Dr. Sahar Borairi

Dr. Sahar Borairi is a Clinical and Health Psychologist at Whole Kids Health. She completed her residency at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in areas of Clinical and Health Psychology.
Experience
Dr. Borairi is a dedicated clinician with a true passion for helping children, adolescents, parents, and families. Drawing from her extensive experience in assisting children and youth facing various challenges, Dr. Borairi offers therapy and comprehensive assessments to address both physical and mental health needs. She has experience supporting children and teens with various challenges, including mood disorders, anxiety, learning difficulties, and emotional and behavioural issues.
Clinical Approach
Dr. Borairi tailors her therapeutic approach to cater to the unique needs and circumstances of each individual, promoting growth and resilience. She takes an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy, creating a safe and welcoming space for clients to share their unique perspectives, challenges, and strengths. Knowing the significant role that families play in a child's life, Dr. Borairi also works alongside parents and caregivers to equip them with the necessary tools and strategies to best support their children's emotional well-being.
Dr. Borairi values interdisciplinary care and collaborates with medical, educational, and community professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support for her clients. She utilizes a biopsychosocial conceptualization to understand the complex interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to a client’s functioning. This approach allows her to develop tailored and evidence-based recommendations that promote the client’s overall wellbeing and success. With her warm, accepting, and inclusive therapeutic style, Dr. Borairi empowers clients to harness their strengths and abilities, and overcome difficulties.
In addition to her clinical experience, Dr. Borairi has received training in comprehensive assessment (including cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional functioning) and a variety of therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and behavioral and attachment-based approaches.
Background & Training
Dr. Borairi completed her Ph.D. in School and Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Toronto. During her residency at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Dr. Borairi gained vast experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary medical teams across various fields including psychiatry, oncology, respirology, neurology, gastroenterology, and general pediatrics. Dr. Borairi also currently holds a staff position at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). She has also held positions at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), the OISE Psychology Clinic and private practice.
Supervision & Mentoring
Dr. Borairi enjoys teaching students in both clinical and research settings. She highly values the role of supervision and is enthusiastic about mentorship and supervision.
